Winners and losers in global trade
Although significant resources have been invested in the fight against poverty in recent decades, the gap between rich and poor remains one of the most important items on the agenda of world politics. What has gone wrong that still more than a billion people have to get by on less than 1 dollar a day?
The key to combating poverty is the creation of jobs in developing countries. The film shows through examples from three continents what is needed and how this could be achieved. However, mere charity will not suffice.
Based on these questions and contradictions, we travel through the USA, Peru, Senegal, and into Europe. And we tell stories of people who benefit from globalization, but also suffer because of it.
